New Music Gathering 2023 - Performance Notes

Whisper Through the Chrysalis is a piece about longing, hoping, and wondering what’s next. A slowly evolving pattern is passed through long delay lines that can be “played” through tactile interaction with the location of the playheads. The piece uses Brian Crabtree’s Awake script and Olivier Creurer’s Compass script for the Monome Norns.

Migration Script centers on the unrelenting forces of nature that push creatures to live their lives as molded through centuries-old patterns without question. Using Mark Wheeler's Overwintering script and Zach Scholl’s granchild scripts for the Monome Norns, the performer reacts to slowly-evolving harmonic content generated in real-time from bird migration patterns captured across Europe through modification of this material through granular engines and digital sample reduction processing, imparting their own fleeting influence on an unrelenting force.

Haze Script uses the animator script by crim to build sequenced musical patterns out of shapes. It’s very bouncy and super fun!
